MANCHESTER, N.J. — The Manchester Police Department is investigating a series of drone sightings reported in the area, asking residents to avoid dialing 911 for non-emergency concerns regarding the devices.
In a statement issued Friday, police clarified that while they are actively looking into the reports, 911 should only be used for emergencies involving immediate threats to safety, property, or well-being. “We’re conducting our own research,” the department said, noting that federal and state agencies are also involved.
The FBI’s Newark office and the New Jersey State Police are collaborating on the investigation, seeking public assistance in reporting any relevant information. Residents can contact the FBI directly at 1-800-CALL-FBI, submit tips online at tips.fbi.gov, or upload videos related to the sightings through the same website.
Authorities also cautioned the public to avoid interacting with any downed drones. Instead, individuals are advised to leave the area and notify local law enforcement.
Police reiterated their commitment to public safety while working to address the mysterious aerial activity.
