Maryland Students Honored as US Presidential Scholars

BALTIMORE, MD—Four Maryland high school students have been named U.S. Presidential Scholars, marking them among the nation’s most outstanding high school seniors. Maximilian P. Belyantsev and Angelina Xu from Richard Montgomery High School in Montgomery County; Mingni L. Dong from Dulaney High School in Baltimore County; and Minaal A. Khwaja from Wicomico High School in Wicomico County received this prestigious accolade.

Selected by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, these students are recognized for their exceptional achievements in academics, the arts, and career and technical education fields. “We could not be more proud that four of our state’s brightest students have achieved this prestigious honor,” expressed Dr. Carey M. Wright, State Superintendent of Schools, praising the exemplar standard of Maryland public education.

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, established in 1964 and expanded over the years, honors up to 161 high school seniors annually. This year, thirteen Maryland students reached the semifinals, underscoring the state’s commitment to fostering educational excellence.
