SLAUGHTER BEACH, Del. — Two men are in custody following a violent shooting at a public gathering earlier this month behind the Slaughter Beach Memorial Volunteer Fire Company that left one man injured and sparked an extensive investigation.
On June 12 around 7:14 p.m., troopers responded to a public access area near 359 Bay Avenue in Milford for reports of shots fired. According to investigators, multiple masked suspects opened fire on partygoers at a pavilion behind the firehouse. A 32-year-old man from Dover attempting to flee the scene was shot in the lower body. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and later released.
Delaware State Police identified two suspects through investigative work: 19-year-old Tyree Johnson of Harrington and 22-year-old Tymere Harmon of Dover. Both are now facing multiple felony charges.
Manhunt Ends With Arrests and Firearm Seizure
On June 20, the Dover Police Department stopped a light-colored Honda Accord linked to the crime. Harmon, the driver, was arrested without incident and taken to Troop 4 for processing.
Five days later, members of the Kent County Governor’s Task Force located Johnson walking on West Street in Harrington. He fled on foot, tossing a black satchel before entering a nearby building. After following verbal commands, Johnson surrendered to police. Inside the discarded bag, detectives found a loaded Glock 17 with an extended magazine and ammunition.
Johnson was transported to Troop 3 and charged with multiple crimes. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $598,100 cash bond.
Authorities are still searching for additional suspects who were reportedly wearing all-black clothing and ski masks. Surveillance footage has not yet been released.
