Matawan man arrested in connection with series of East Brunswick shootings

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A 43-year-old Matawan man was arrested Friday in connection with three separate shooting incidents that occurred in East Brunswick this month, authorities announced.

Sameh F. Kaldes was taken into custody without incident on April 18 after he was located returning to Cranbury Circle, the site of the reported shootings. East Brunswick police responded to the area multiple times throughout April for reports of gunfire. No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

According to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, the shootings were not random and the suspect was known to the victims. Following an investigation, Kaldes was charged with two counts of attempted murder, stalking, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and receiving stolen property.

He was transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center after being processed.

“I want to take a moment to commend the outstanding work of the men and women of the East Brunswick Police Department,” said Police Chief Frank LoSacco. “Their efforts not only brought resolution to a very serious matter but also helped restore a sense of safety and trust in our community.”
