McKenney woman wins $1 million jackpot playing Virginia Lottery online game

MCKENNEY, VA — Martine Moore’s usual post-work routine took an unforgettable turn when she played the Virginia Lottery’s Million Dollar Countdown game and won the game’s $1 million top prize.

The Dinwiddie County resident initially thought she had won a smaller amount but quickly realized she had hit the jackpot. Million Dollar Countdown, available on the Virginia Lottery app and website, offers a top prize of $1 million with odds of 1 in 4.04 in Standard Mode and 1 in 4.02 in Power Hour Mode.

Moore’s hometown of Dinwiddie County received more than $4.6 million in Lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year, contributing to the Virginia Lottery’s overall $934 million raised for schools in Fiscal Year 2024.

Virginia residents can play a variety of online games, including Powerball, Mega Millions, and Cash4Life, as long as they are at least 18 years old and physically in the state.
