Miami mother arrested after alleged attack on 12-year-old son, police say

MIAMI, FL – A 12-year-old boy arrived at school with visible injuries and a story that led to his mother’s arrest days later, according to Miami-Dade authorities. The child told officials he had been repeatedly struck during a violent confrontation that began in a car and continued inside his home.

Lucianny Lizbeth Luna, 32, was arrested Thursday and charged with one count of child abuse resulting in no harm, according to Miami-Dade County court records. The case stems from a complaint the boy made to school officials, prompting a response from police and child protective services.

Allegations detailed in arrest affidavit

A responding officer documented “a contusion with lacerations on his left face next to his left eye,” after meeting the child at school. The boy said the injuries were inflicted the previous day when his mother hit him.

According to the arrest affidavit, the incident began when Luna picked her son up from school and drove him to Gwen Cherry Park. “The defendant picked him up from school,” the charging document reads. “The defendant then began to drive him in his stepfather’s vehicle to the Gwen Cherry Park to meet for practice. The defendant was on the phone talking to who he believed [was a] male his mother was cheating with.”

During the drive, the boy told police he corrected his mother while she was speaking on the phone. “The defendant then struck the victim in the face with her right hand, slapping him in the middle of his face,” the officer wrote. “I observed a small bruise in between his eyebrows. The defendant then grabbed his hair, pulled it, and struck him on the back of his head, approximately eighteen to nineteen times, with a small glass bottle.”

The child told investigators his head was sore but did not show visible injury from the bottle.

Incident escalates inside home

The affidavit states the situation continued after they returned home. “The victim stated that after he was hit, he felt in shock and froze for a moment, and the defendant began to shake him,” the document reads. “The victim stated that when they were closer to his residence, she then attempted to slash him with her keys.”

The boy told police he tried to block the attack but suffered a cut. “The victim tried to deflect the strike, but the key stabbed him in his right palm. I observed a small laceration to his right palm,” the officer wrote.

Inside the residence, the boy told his stepfather what happened. According to the complaint, the stepfather told Luna, “I’m tired of you doing this,” and instructed the child to take a shower. Afterward, the situation escalated again.

“While the victim was mid-sentence, the defendant struck the victim on the left side of his face, causing an injury near his eye,” the complaint states. “The defendant then slammed the victim against the wall.”

The child attempted to flee but was restrained. “The victim began to run away from the defendant, but then [his mother] grabbed the victims towel, holding him back,” the report reads. The stepfather then intervened, allowing the boy to escape into his room.

Threats and call for help

According to the affidavit, Luna then made threats outside the child’s bedroom door. “The defendant was outside of his door yelling to the victim I want to kill you,” the complaint reads. “You’re not my son. Come out the door, and I’ll kill you with anything I have.”

The boy contacted his aunt via Instagram, showing his injuries and asking for help. “The victim stated he was in fear for his life and that he wanted to call 911, but he was scared,” the officer wrote. The aunt later corroborated the account, including the visible injuries.

Police reported observing “a contusion around the victim’s left eye with several small lacerations and a small bruise on his mid back.”

During questioning, Luna admitted to some physical contact. “The defendant admitted to hitting the victim several times on the back, once with an open hand and could not recall the subsequent strikes,” the charging document states. “She denied hitting him in the face or on the back of his head.”

Luna was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and later posted a $5,000 bond Friday. Court records do not show any upcoming hearings.
