ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – A series of targeted police operations in Atlantic City has led to the arrest of 14 individuals and the recovery of narcotics, prescription pills, and drug paraphernalia, authorities announced Tuesday.
Over the past two weeks, officers focused efforts in the areas of Florida, Bellevue, and Texas Avenues, addressing community concerns related to drug distribution and quality-of-life issues. Police recovered nearly five ounces of cocaine, 160 bags of heroin, prescription pills, and issued 10 motor vehicle summonses during the arrests.
The arrested individuals face a variety of charges, including possession of controlled dangerous substances (CDS), intent to distribute, and contempt of court. Notable arrests include Tyshaun Cooper-Roary, 26, of Margate, who faces multiple CDS-related charges, including distribution near a school zone, and Waheed Wilkins, 34, of Trenton, who is charged with CDS possession and intent to distribute near public and school zones.
Some suspects, including Jy’heem Benjamin-Hannah, 20, of Atlantic City, and Stacy Campo, 46, of Cape May, were released on summonses pending future court dates. Others, such as Nazir Bell, 24, of Egg Harbor City, and Michael Robinson, 40, of Atlantic City, were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
This latest operation follows a previous effort that resulted in 19 arrests, the seizure of handguns, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and ecstasy, as well as vehicle summonses and towed vehicles, including an illegal dirt bike.
Authorities emphasized that the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to address narcotics distribution and improve quality of life in the city. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
