Two separate incidents within hours highlight ongoing gun violence across city neighborhoods
Philadelphia, PA – Five people were injured in two separate shooting incidents across Philadelphia late Wednesday and early Thursday, with all victims expected to survive as police continue searching for suspects.
The first shooting occurred around 12:52 a.m. Thursday on the 2700 block of West Oakdale Street, where officers responded to reports of a person with a gun. Upon arrival, police found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds—a 30-year-old man shot in the knee and a 29-year-old woman shot twice in the shoulder. Both were transported by police to Temple University Hospital and listed in stable condition.
Investigators said the male victim, who possesses a valid license to carry, discharged his firearm during the incident.
Dispute escalates into gunfire in residential block
Preliminary findings indicate the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between individuals connected to properties along the block. Police said two masked males exited a residence, opened fire, and then fled back inside the property.
Authorities believe the motive is tied to the ongoing conflict, though no arrests have been made. The case remains under investigation by the department’s Shooting Investigation Group.
