MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Myrtle Beach Police Department announced the passing of their retired K9, Yep, on Saturday, expressing sorrow over the loss of the dual-purpose dog who served the community for five years. K9 Yep, a member of the department’s K-9 Unit, passed away surrounded by friends and family, the department stated in a social media post.

Yep’s handler, PFC Struckus, worked closely with the K9 during her time with the department, and the two shared a strong bond. According to the police department, Yep’s service left a significant impact on both the force and the community it protects.

Chief Amy Prock extended condolences to PFC Struckus and the K-9 Unit, underscoring the loss felt by the entire department. “Our team and community share in the loss of Yep,” Chief Prock said in a statement. “Our K-9 program is an invaluable part of our team and family and Yep will be missed.”
