MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ—The Monroe Township Police Department has announced increased security measures for the upcoming Our Lady of Peace Annual Carnival, aiming to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all attendees. This decision comes as a response to recent disturbances at local events.
The police department will enforce a zero-tolerance policy for disruptive behavior, with immediate ejection or arrest for anyone causing disturbances. Officers are directed to proactively address potential issues based on prior interactions or observed behavior to prevent escalation.
This year, the event will feature a fenced perimeter with two designated entrance points. Additional safety protocols include a ban on face coverings and mandatory inspections of backpacks and bags by security or church staff.
Admission requirements have been updated: attendees under 18 and over 42 inches tall must purchase a nightly unlimited ride wristband for $30 or a weekly mega-pass for $55. Exceptions will be made for individuals with disabilities, and parents can still buy individual ride tickets for young children on a case-by-case basis.
These enhanced measures are part of a broader commitment by the carnival organizers and the police department to maintain a family-friendly atmosphere throughout the event.
