February 8, 2026

TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey motorists are getting a rare break at the pump this week, as average fuel prices across the state dropped to some of the lowest levels seen in months. According to GasBuddy’s latest data, several stations are now offering regular unleaded for under $2.50 a gallon, with the cheapest price reported at $2.49.

The most affordable gas was found at Gas and Diesel in Absecon, which listed regular at $2.49 per gallon, updated just 23 hours ago. Close behind, Conoco in Bradley Beach and Exxon in the same area both posted prices of $2.51. Membership-based retailers are also helping to drive down costs, with BJ’s in Freehold selling at $2.54 and Costco in Bayonne reporting $2.55.

Lowest gas prices reported statewide:

  1. Gas and Diesel – Absecon, NJ – $2.49/gal
  2. Conoco – Bradley Beach, NJ – $2.51/gal

Pump prices ease across the Garden State
Industry analysts attribute the dip to lower crude oil costs and increased competition among major retailers. The statewide average currently hovers around $2.63 per gallon, nearly 30 cents below the national average.

For drivers planning weekend trips or commutes, GasBuddy recommends checking local listings frequently, as prices can fluctuate daily based on supply, demand, and refinery output.

With prices holding steady below $2.60 in most regions, New Jersey remains one of the most affordable states for gasoline along the East Coast.
