Striking vehicle found abandoned near deadly crash scene
WASHINGTON, DC – A woman who was found alive after being struck by a vehicle in Northeast DC Sunday evening later died at a hospital, while police searched for two men after finding the vehicle believed to have hit her abandoned a short distance from the crash scene.
The collision was reported shortly before 7 p.m. near North Capitol Street and New York Avenue NE.
The Metropolitan Police Department said the woman was struck by a vehicle whose driver fled after the collision.
The striking vehicle was subsequently located unoccupied a short distance away, according to police.
Woman was alive when first responders arrived
DC Fire and EMS found the woman unconscious but breathing and transported her to a hospital for treatment.
Despite initially surviving the collision, she later died from her injuries.
Her identity was not provided in the initial report.
Two men sought after deadly crash
Police are searching for two Black males who were reportedly wearing denim jeans and white shirts.
