A New Jersey woman allegedly tried to turn a Tinder connection into a contract killer in a $12,000 murder-for-hire scheme targeting her ex-boyfriend and his daughter.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A 26-year-old woman was arrested in a murder-for-hire plot targeting her ex-boyfriend, a Philadelphia police officer, and his 19-year-old daughter, authorities said Tuesday.

According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Jaclyn Diiorio of Runnemede, N.J., was taken into custody after allegedly giving $500 in cash to a confidential informant posing as a hitman. The meeting occurred on the 1300 block of North Black Horse Pike, where undercover officers were monitoring the exchange.

The investigation began on April 3, when the Major Crimes Unit received a tip about Diiorio’s alleged plan. Authorities said she wanted to pay $12,000 to have her ex-boyfriend, a 53-year-old Philadelphia police officer, and his daughter killed.

Plot uncovered and target alerted

Diiorio reportedly met the informant on March 31 after connecting via the Tinder dating app. Their first meeting took place at a Wawa in Runnemede. Over the following days, Diiorio allegedly expressed her desire to have her ex “dead,” according to a probable cause affidavit.

The alleged target was notified of the plot on April 4. He told investigators he and Diiorio had previously dated after meeting while she was working as his barber. Their relationship ended on March 6. Diiorio had also filed, then later dropped, a temporary restraining order against him.

Charges and custody

At the time of her arrest, Diiorio was allegedly in possession of alprazolam pills in an unmarked bottle. She was charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, one count of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, and one count of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Diiorio was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing on April 9. The investigation was supported by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
