NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A 27-year-old New Rochelle man was killed and his 18-year-old passenger injured when their motorcycle crashed along Pinebrook Boulevard, according to the New Rochelle Police Department.

The crash happened around midnight Aug. 25 in the northbound lane of Pinebrook Boulevard near Beechmont Drive. Officers responding to the scene found that the motorcycle had collided with a metal bollard surrounding an electrical utility box just off the roadway.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger suffered minor injuries and was treated by emergency medical personnel, police said.

Police Investigating What Caused Motorcycle to Leave Roadway

Investigators have not yet said what caused the crash.

Police did not disclose the motorcycle’s speed or say whether weather, road conditions, another vehicle or any other factor may have contributed. The department described the investigation as active.
