NEWARK, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s help locating a 55-year-old Irvington woman wanted for questioning in connection with a Monday night shooting that left several vehicles and a building riddled with bullet holes in Newark’s South Ward.

At approximately 9:59 p.m. on October 6, police responded to the 400 block of Leslie Street after a Shot Spotter alert reported gunfire in the area. Responding officers found four vehicles struck by bullets and property damage to a building located in the 300 block of Chancellor Avenue. Two motor vehicle crashes also occurred at the intersection of Leslie Street and Chancellor Avenue when drivers collided with parked cars during the chaos. No injuries were reported.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., said detectives are actively seeking Melissa Wise, 55, of Irvington, for questioning in connection with the shooting.
