Newark woman hit with stalking counts after break-in attempt

Newark woman accused of statue smash break-in tied to stalking case

NEWARK, DE — A statue allegedly flew through a Winterthur Lane window in the middle of the afternoon, and police say they caught the suspect inside moments later, linking the attempted break-in to an ongoing stalking case that started outside the city.

Newark Police said officers responded on Thursday, January 16, at about 3:53 p.m. to the 500 block of Winterthur Lane for a reported burglary in progress. Police said they located and apprehended Dominque Johnson, 31, of Newark, at the residence.

Investigators said Johnson attempted to gain entry after banging on the door, then threw an outdoor statue through a window to get inside.
