Woman vanishes in Newark after riding away near Clinton Avenue

Newark, NJ — A 53-year-old woman who was last seen riding an electric scooter down a busy Newark street in late March remains missing, and police are renewing calls for the public’s help in locating her.

Robin J. Bacote was reported missing on Friday, April 4, but investigators say she was last spotted at around noon on March 28 near the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Clinton Avenue. At the time, she was traveling with an electric scooter and carrying a mini speaker.

Police describe Bacote as an African American woman, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a multicolored scarf, a green vest, gray pants, and sneakers.

Detectives say Bacote is in good physical and mental health and have not indicated any signs of foul play at this time. However, weeks after her disappearance, authorities say they are still actively searching for leads.

The Newark Department of Public Safety has released an updated photo of Bacote in hopes that someone may recognize her or recall seeing her. With little information to go on, investigators are urging anyone who may have seen her or has knowledge of her whereabouts to come forward.
