HOLMDEL, N.J. — A New Jersey lawmaker raised eyebrows over the weekend after a Mother’s Day message posted on her official Facebook page appeared to praise herself for both her political accomplishments and her role as a parent.
The post, shared Sunday on the verified account of Assemblywoman Vicky Flynn (R-Monmouth), began with a celebratory tone: “Happy Mother’s Day to Assemblywoman Vicky Flynn — a fearless leader, dedicated public servant, and above all, a proud mom of three incredible daughters.”
The message, signed by “LD13 Staff,” went on to describe Flynn as someone who “brings a mother’s heart and a fighter’s grit to the State House every single day,” and said she is uniquely qualified to serve because she lives the same daily struggles as New Jersey moms.
“Today is a powerful reminder that we need more tough, compassionate moms like Vicky in the Legislature,” the post concluded, calling for more maternal leadership in government.
While the statement was attributed to staff, commenters quickly pointed out that it read more like a personal tribute authored in the third person. The timing and wording led some social media users to question whether Flynn had written or approved the message herself.
Post promotes lawmaker’s dual role as mother and legislator
Flynn, who represents the 13th Legislative District, has not publicly addressed the Facebook post or the reaction it received. As of Monday, the post remained visible on her account.
No official statement has been issued from Flynn’s office confirming whether the assemblywoman authored the post or approved its publication.
