TRENTON, N.J. — Morning commuters faced a series of traffic issues across New Jersey’s major roadways on Monday as crashes, delays, and lane closures disrupted travel.
A crash on the George Washington Bridge upper level eastbound near the New Jersey toll plaza in Fort Lee is causing delays, with the left lane blocked as of 8:56 a.m. Drivers should expect significant congestion approaching the area.
On US 1&9 Truck Route southbound, a crash north of Jacobus Avenue in Kearny has closed the left lane as of 8:54 a.m. Meanwhile, the Garden State Parkway northbound is seeing delays due to a crash north of Exit 135 in Clark Township, where the right shoulder is blocked.
A disabled tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike’s outer roadway northbound, near Interchange 13 in Elizabeth, has one center lane blocked as of 8:41 a.m., causing additional backups.
Westbound traffic on the Commodore Barry Bridge is heavily impacted by a crash that has closed two left lanes. Only one lane is getting by with speeds reduced to 25 mph, leading to significant delays.
In addition to these incidents, volume-related delays have been reported on the Garden State Parkway northbound from Exit 142 in Irvington Township to Exit 144 in Newark, with a 2 1/2 mile backup. Delays are also present on I-280 eastbound between Exit 12 in East Orange and Exit 13 in Newark, with travel times ranging from 5 to 10 minutes.
