Berkeley Township, NJ – A traffic stop on Route 9 led to the arrest of an Ocean Gate woman accused of driving while intoxicated and possessing cocaine, police said.

The incident occurred on October 31 when Patrolman Josh Foca stopped a white Mazda near Pelican Drive after observing the vehicle drifting out of its lane.

The driver, identified as 55-year-old AnnMarie Miano, showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody following further investigation.

Traffic stop leads to multiple charges

Police said Patrolman Foca determined Miano was under the influence and discovered suspected cocaine and paraphernalia inside the vehicle. She was arrested and taken to Berkeley Township Police Headquarters for processing.

Miano was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, DWI Refusal, Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Suspect released under John’s Law

Authorities said Miano was released on a summons within the provisions of John’s Law, which governs the release and impoundment process for DWI-related arrests.

The case remains under investigation by the Berkeley Township Police Department.
