Officers hear gunfire then find wounded man on Baltimore street

Officers heard shots ring out in the early morning hours before discovering a man suffering from a gunshot wound

Baltimore, MD — A burst of gunfire shattered the early morning quiet on Fleet Street Saturday when patrol officers heard shots fired and quickly located a wounded man nearby, according to Baltimore Police.

At approximately 2:22 a.m. Saturday, officers were patrolling the area when they heard the sound of gunfire coming from the 1600 block of Fleet Street.

Responding to the area, officers found a 31-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the leg.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police have not released details on what led to the shooting or whether any suspects have been identified.

Detectives assigned to the Central District Shooting Unit responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.
