One Injured in Early Morning Shooting Outside Myrtle Beach Circle K as Police Detain One

Myrtle Beach, SC — A shooting outside a Circle K along North Kings Highway left one person hospitalized early Sunday morning during Memorial Day weekend, prompting a large police response in one of Myrtle Beach’s busiest tourism corridors.

Myrtle Beach Police officers responded around 2:33 a.m. Sunday to the convenience store in the 1100 block of North Kings Highway after reports of gunfire outside the business, according to the department.

One person suffered injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Police said the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Investigators also confirmed that one person was detained in connection with the shooting as officers continued processing the scene Sunday.

Shooting Draws Heavy Police Presence Near Tourist Area

The shooting happened during one of the city’s busiest weekends of the year, with large crowds visiting the Grand Strand for Memorial Day events and nightlife.

The Circle K sits along a heavily traveled section of North Kings Highway near hotels, restaurants, and beach traffic routes that remain active late into the night.

Myrtle Beach Police said residents and visitors could expect an increased law enforcement presence in the area while detectives continue the investigation.
