Passenger Arrested at Pittsburgh Airport for Concealed Firearm

Pittsburgh, PA – Allegheny County Police have charged a resident of Millersburg, Ohio, following the discovery of a firearm in the main security area of Pittsburgh International Airport.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at 4:19 p.m. when Transportation Security Administration officials identified a handgun inside a traveler’s backpack. This prompted them to notify the Allegheny County Police.

Authorities identified the individual as 47-year-old Steven Lapp and found that he lacked a valid concealed carry permit. Consequently, Lapp is now facing a felony charge for carrying a firearm without a license. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has also been notified about the case.

The Transportation Security Administration states that individuals caught carrying firearms at airport checkpoints could incur civil fines of up to $10,000. Repeat offenders might face fines up to $13,910.
