Digital ticket matched four white balls and the Powerball before a 2X multiplier doubled the prize
MIDDLETOWN, PA – One Pennsylvania Powerball player did not need to visit a convenience store to score big Wednesday night, with a ticket purchased online hitting for $100K after a $1 Power Play option doubled what would have been a $50,000 prize.
The Pennsylvania Lottery announced Thursday that the online ticket was one of two $100,000 Powerball with Power Play winners sold in the state for the Aug. 12 drawing.
The winning numbers were 4, 26, 66, 67 and 69, with the red Powerball 9.
The online ticket matched four of the five white balls along with the Powerball.
That match is normally worth $50,000.
The player had also purchased Power Play, and Wednesday’s 2X multiplier increased the prize to $100,000 before applicable withholding.
Unlike a traditional paper ticket that must be presented for validation, winnings from Pennsylvania Lottery online purchases automatically appear in a player’s account after the claim has been processed.
The Lottery did not identify the online player.
The $100K online hit was accompanied by another Pennsylvania ticket worth the same amount.
That ticket was purchased at Royal Farms at 3314 Market St. in Aston, Delaware County, and also benefited from the 2X Power Play multiplier.
Wednesday was also the night Powerball’s massive jackpot run came to an end.
One ticket sold in Illinois matched all six numbers to win the $1.04 billion jackpot, the eighth-largest in Powerball history.
The Illinois winner has the choice between the $1.04 billion annuity and a one-time cash option of $450.5 million before taxes.
The jackpot had gone 44 consecutive drawings without a winner since May 2.
Pennsylvania players collected prizes on more than 160,300 additional tickets from Wednesday’s drawing.
More than 36,200 winning Pennsylvania tickets had Power Play, while more than 19,400 winning tickets were purchased with Double Play, according to the Lottery.
