PHILADELPHIA, PA – A 23-year-old man was shot and killed early Monday morning on North Warnock Street, prompting a homicide investigation that later led SWAT officers to detain one person for questioning.
Police said officers from the 25th District responded around 1:40 a.m. to reports of a man shot on the highway in the 35XX block of North Warnock Street.
Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds — two to the back and one to the chest.
The man was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:05 a.m.
Investigators said no motive has been identified, and no arrests had been made as of early Monday morning.
Police confirmed that the department’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation and canvassing the area for evidence and surveillance footage.
Hours after the shooting, Philadelphia Police SWAT officers executed a search warrant at a residence in connection with the case.
