Police Charge 18-Year-Old with DUI After Fatal Crash in Arlington

October 15, 2024

Arlington, VA – An 18-year-old man has been charged with DUI following a crash that left one person dead in Tara-Leeway Heights early Saturday morning.

According to the Arlington County Police Department (ACPD), officers and fire personnel were dispatched to the 2200 block of N. Harrison St. just before 2 a.m. for a report of a single-vehicle accident. Upon arrival, medics began treating a passenger suffering from life-threatening injuries.

The passenger, identified as 19-year-old Nicholas Rados of Arlington, was transported to the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Brooks Bare, also 18 and from Arlington, was driving the vehicle northbound on N. Harrison St. when he struck several parked, unoccupied vehicles on the side of the road, causing his car to overturn.

In addition to Bare and Rados, three other passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. One of them was taken to the hospital with minor injuries but has since been released. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
