TOMS RIVER, NJ – Police are investigating after a body was reportedly found in the road along Route 37 near the former K-Mart shopping center and Pizza Hut location. Police have not yet officially confirmed the fatality and at this point, the circumstances surrounding the death have not been released by law enforcement officials.
The Toms River Police Department has yet to confirm the incident. Witnesses reported a large police presence and a body covered in a white sheet at the scene earlier today.
It was later confirmed that a pedestrian was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene until police arrived.
