NEW YORK — Police are searching for a 21-year-old man in connection with the theft of a gold-plated metal rose from the 9/11 Memorial inside the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Midtown Manhattan.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 2:30 p.m. when an individual reportedly entered the church, located at 135 West 31st Street, and removed the rose without authorization. The suspect was last seen fleeing the scene on foot.

Following an investigation, authorities identified the suspect as Deikel Alcantara. Further details about his whereabouts remain unknown as the investigation continues.
