Rensselaer County Man Faces Felony Domestic Violence Charges

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – Preston Wido, 37, of Clifton Park, has been indicted on several charges including criminal contempt and criminal obstruction of breathing. The indictment was announced today by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney. Wido is accused of choking the mother of his infant son while holding the child, along with making over 1,300 threatening phone calls in violation of a court order.

The incidents span several months, with threats beginning on March 11, when Wido left threatening voicemails. He was arrested on March 18 and charged with aggravated harassment, following which a protective order was issued for the victim. Despite the protective order, Wido allegedly continued to harass and threaten the victim from March 18 to March 28.

Additional charges relate to an incident recorded in August 2023, where Wido was allegedly seen on home video surveillance choking the victim while holding their infant son.

This indictment comes as Wido faces other serious charges in Rensselaer County, including rape, strangulation, robbery, and aggravated animal cruelty. District Attorney Tierney emphasized the commitment of his office to vigorously prosecuting domestic violence cases and encouraged victims to come forward.
