North Tonawanda, NY — A North Tonawanda school bus driver lost his job and now faces multiple felony charges after investigators allegedly discovered a large collection of child sexual abuse material during a joint law enforcement operation Friday.
Nicholas Macdonald, 26, of North Tonawanda, was arrested after the North Tonawanda Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) executed search warrants at locations on the 1100 block of Payne Avenue and the 100 block of Vandervoort Street on June 5, according to police.
Investigators said a review of electronic and digital evidence seized during the searches revealed a substantial quantity of photos and videos depicting child sexual abuse material, including content involving prepubescent minors.
Joint Investigation Leads to Felony Charges
Macdonald was charged as a result of the investigation with:
- Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child (Class D sexually motivated felony), two counts
- Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child (Class E felony), two counts
Authorities said Macdonald was taken into custody during the execution of the search warrants and later processed at the North Tonawanda Police Department.
Police have not released additional details about the investigation or indicated whether more charges could be filed.
Employer Terminates Bus Driver After Arrest
A significant development in the case emerged when investigators determined Macdonald worked as a bus driver for Transpo Bus Services LLC.
According to the North Tonawanda Police Department, the company terminated Macdonald immediately after learning of his arrest.
Officials said Transpo Bus Services is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The announcement is likely to raise concerns among parents and community members because of Macdonald’s position transporting students, though authorities have not alleged any direct misconduct involving children in his care.
