A Snake Rattle and Roll ticket sold at a Throop convenience store landed one of the game’s top prizes
THROOP, PA – A $20 Pennsylvania Lottery scratch-off sold at a Lackawanna County convenience store turned into a $1 million payday, landing the top prize in the Snake, Rattle and Roll game.
The Pennsylvania Lottery announced Monday that M Kumar P Inc., operating as Food Express, sold the $1 million-winning ticket.
The retailer is located at 914 Dunmore St. in Throop Borough.
Snake, Rattle and Roll is a $20 scratch-off offering top prizes of $1 million.
Food Express will receive a $5,000 retailer bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The Pennsylvania Lottery said scratch-off tickets are distributed randomly, meaning neither the Lottery nor its retailers know in advance where winning tickets will be sold.
Unlike draw-game tickets, the Lottery learns where a winning scratch-off was sold only after the prize has been claimed.
The Lottery did not provide information about the person who won the $1 million prize.
Scratch-off prizes expire one year after the game’s posted end-sale date. Lottery prizes exceeding $5,000 are subject to applicable withholding.
