Florida woman arrested after public drunken dispute with husband

Polk City, FL

A Florida woman was arrested following a disturbance involving her husband. Laylani Sullivan, 24, faces multiple charges including domestic violence battery by strangulation, battery on a firefighter, and resisting arrest.

On morning of October 15, deputies received a report of domestic violence at a residence on Cypress Trails Drive. The husband’s account indicated that an argument escalated when Sullivan became intoxicated and began to scream and curse at him.

Law enforcement noted the dispute started verbally but turned violent, as Sullivan allegedly choked her husband to the point of restricting his breathing. When deputies arrived, Sullivan was found fully unclothed and was reportedly combative.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd shared details of the incident in a Facebook video, highlighting Sullivan’s level of intoxication. He described her as having taken off her clothes and being aggressive when officers attempted to arrest her.

In their accounts, deputies explained that Sullivan resisted efforts to handcuff her. Despite the attempts of a female deputy to assist her in putting clothes on, Sullivan continued to fight back.

The arrest report included descriptions of her violent behavior toward officers and emergency medical services present at the scene. While officers worked to restrain her, Sullivan allegedly struck a firefighter in the chest.

Sullivan is being held in the Polk County Jail on a bond of $16,000. She is scheduled to appear in court for her arraignment on November 18.

Frederick man sentenced to life for murder

FREDERICK, MD – Santos Felipe Reyes Valle, 40, received a life sentence for first-degree murder in Frederick County Circuit Court on Thursday. Judge Kathleen English imposed the sentence after a jury found Valle guilty on June 23.

The charges stemmed from an incident on May 17, when Frederick Police responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive male in the Home Depot parking lot. They located the victim, Jose Pedro Hernandez, who had been stabbed in the neck and was covered in blood.

Emergency Medical Services transported Hernandez to Frederick Health Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses reported seeing Valle, known as “Felipe,” with a knife and displaying signs of intoxication.

A folding knife with blood was discovered nearby in a wooded area. Police interviewed Valle, who was walking near the scene and had wet clothing and scratches on his face and arms.

Forensic analysis linked the knife to Valle, identifying both his DNA and fingerprints alongside that of the victim.

In Victim Impact Statements, Hernandez’s family expressed grief and requested that the defendant never be released from prison. “Pedro was the head of our family and it has affected us greatly,” they said.

Deputy State’s Attorney Kirsten Brown and Assistant State’s Attorney Tyler Cejka represented the State of Maryland in this case.

A life sentence ensures Valle will remain behind bars for his brutal crime.
