A resurfaced video showing Seaside Heights police removing women carrying Trump flags from the beach is gaining renewed attention ahead of Independence Day and the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary, with the women claiming they were targeted for their political display while officers cited beach admission rules.
Seaside Heights, NJ – A video recorded on the Seaside Heights beach last summer has returned to social media, showing several police officers confronting and ultimately removing a group of women waving Trump flags from the shoreline.
The footage, originally recorded on Aug. 19, 2025, has gone viral again just days before the Fourth of July holiday and as communities across the country prepare for events marking America’s 250th anniversary.
The video has gone viral again after the creator, Dawn Daparma (@gr8oz), reposted it on Instagram this week.
The irony is that Seaside Heights is a conservative and Trump-leaning community, but the video, which claimed “Rookie Cop Hates Trump,” was meant to create a viral story, but ignored some of the obvious facts from the day.
Women claim flags prompted police response
The video captures a heated exchange between the women and several Seaside Heights Police officers.
Throughout the encounter, the women repeatedly claim they are being singled out because they are displaying Trump flags and supporting President Donald Trump.
One woman, wearing a “Send Obama to Alcatraz” tank top, says she had been given permission to come onto the beach to take photographs with the flags.
By the end of the video, the women are seen posing together with the Trump flags after the confrontation.
Officers cite beach badges during confrontation
The video also captures officers repeatedly telling the group that the issue is not the political flags.
“I support Trump, don’t worry,” one officer says during the exchange as the women continue accusing police of targeting them because of their political views.
Another officer points toward a nearby man wearing a Make America Great Again hat and notes that he is not being stopped because he is wearing a beach bracelet indicating he paid the required admission fee.
The exchange suggests officers were enforcing the borough’s paid beach access requirements rather than objecting to the flags themselves, but has not been confirmed. Borough officials use police officers to enforce the removal of trespassers acessing the beaches without paying.
Beach access requires paid badges
According to the Seaside Heights website, visitors are required to purchase beach badges to access the borough’s ocean beaches. A daily badge costs $13, while a weekly badge costs $50.
The borough says the fees help “defray expenses related to providing visitors one of the cleanest and safest public beaches on the East Coast.”
Published beach regulations generally allow decorative flags used by beachgoers, while commercial banners and certain oversized displays may be restricted. The borough’s published rules do not prohibit political flags based on their message.
As the video continues circulating online ahead of patriotic holiday celebrations, it has renewed debate over the confrontation, with the women maintaining they were targeted because of their Trump flags and officers stating during the encounter that the dispute centered on beach admission.
