Serious crash shuts down King Street in Alexandria; one critically injured

Alexandria, VA – A major crash closed part of King Street in Alexandria on Saturday afternoon, leaving two people injured and forcing police to shut down eastbound lanes for an extended investigation.

Police said the collision occurred near King Street and South Taylor Street, prompting an immediate closure of eastbound traffic between Menokin Drive and North Quaker Lane.

An access road running parallel to King Street was also blocked.

One victim in critical condition

According to the Alexandria Police Department, two individuals were injured in the crash, including one person who sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition. Emergency crews transported both victims to area hospitals.

Extended closure expected

Police remain on scene conducting a detailed crash reconstruction, and officials said the roadway will stay closed for several hours. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
