ShaCarri Richardson pleads with cop after 104 mph stop caught on bodycam

ORLANDO, FL – Olympic gold medalist Sha’Carri Richardson can be heard pleading with a Florida sheriff’s sergeant not to take her to jail after being pulled over for driving more than 100 miles per hour on a highway in Orange County. Newly released bodycam footage from the January 29 stop shows the 24-year-old track star behind the wheel of a white Dodge Challenger when she is confronted by deputies after being clocked at 104 mph in a 65-mph zone.

In the video, Richardson appears startled and emotional as the sergeant approaches her window. The officer’s tone quickly turns stern, telling her, “I would wipe that smile off your face,” before adding, “You’re going to jail.”

Richardson responds, “I really don’t have to go to jail,” as she tries to explain herself, but the deputy insists the speed required an arrest under Florida’s reckless driving laws.

Authorities said Richardson was charged with dangerous excessive speeding and taken into custody without further incident. She was booked into the Orange County Jail and later released on a $500 bond. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Richardson, one of America’s fastest sprinters, has previously made headlines for both her athletic achievements and personal challenges. She rose to prominence after winning the women’s 100-meter dash at the U.S. Olympic Trials, later securing international titles and endorsements.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that the case will be forwarded to the local prosecutor’s office for review. As of Wednesday, Richardson had not publicly commented on the incident.
