Intruder flees after struggle inside Cranford home

Early morning Beech Street burglary rattles Cranford home

Cranford, NJ – A quiet predawn morning was broken when an intruder climbed through a damaged window and confronted a resident inside a Beech Street home, triggering a brief struggle before the suspect fled into the darkness.

The occupied residential burglary unfolded Wednesday at approximately 4:26 a.m. when at least one male suspect entered a Beech Street residence through a first-floor window. Investigators say a second suspect remained outside the home while the entry was made. The resident confronted the intruder inside, and after a short struggle, the suspect ran from the house.

Damage was reported to the first-floor window used to gain entry. No injuries were reported, and the suspects were gone before officers arrived.

Investigators reported seeing a white mid-size SUV in the area immediately before and after the burglary. Residents in the surrounding neighborhood are being asked to review doorbell and home surveillance footage for any video that may assist the investigation.
