Young bulldog mix North waits as rescue plea intensifies for shelter dog

JACKSON, NJ – A young bulldog mix described as calm and responsive remains in a shelter with no rescue commitment, prompting an urgent call for help as time passes without placement.

North, estimated to be just over 2 years old, was found as a stray and later surrendered after a short stay with the individual who initially took him in. Since then, he has remained in the shelter system awaiting transfer to a qualified rescue.

Shelter advocates say North has passed behavioral assessments and does not show resource guarding, but must be placed as the only pet in a household. He is reported to walk well on a leash, follow commands, and engage appropriately during play.

Despite those traits, no 501(c)(3) rescue organization has stepped forward to take him, a requirement for his release from the facility. Advocates say he is among several dogs, including others identified as Daisy and Nala, who have remained in the shelter for extended periods.

Efforts are ongoing to secure placement, with organizers urging rescues to assist in removing North from the shelter and placing him into a suitable environment.

The situation remains unresolved as calls for assistance continue.
