A neighborhood dispute escalated into a violent vehicle strike that left an elderly man seriously injured and a suspect in custody without bond.
Gaithersburg, MD – A 33-year-old Silver Spring man is facing attempted second-degree murder charges after investigators say he struck his 78-year-old neighbor with a vehicle during a dispute Sunday afternoon and fled the scene. The victim suffered serious injuries, including a broken leg, and was transported to a local hospital.
The suspect, identified as Brady O’Brien Ebert, was arrested Tuesday after officers located him in his neighborhood. He is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
According to police, the incident unfolded around 4:41 p.m. Sunday in the 15000 block of Timberlake Drive, where officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to a reported hit-and-run collision.

Investigators determined that Ebert and the victim were involved in an argument in the victim’s driveway prior to the collision. “The investigation has revealed that Ebert was involved in an argument with his 78-year-old neighbor in the neighbor’s driveway,” police said. “During the incident, and for reasons still under investigation, Ebert struck the victim with his 2001 Buick before leaving the scene without contacting 9-1-1 or providing aid.”

Authorities located the suspect’s vehicle shortly after the incident. “The Buick was located unoccupied with front-end damage in the 15000 block of Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville and was towed to the 4th District Station for evidence processing,” police stated.
Following the investigation, detectives secured a warrant for Ebert’s arrest. “Detectives from the 4th District Investigative Section obtained an arrest warrant against Ebert, charging him with attempted second-degree murder and related offenses,” police said.
Ebert was taken into custody at approximately 1:03 p.m. Tuesday. “Officers located Ebert in his neighborhood and took him into custody,” according to authorities.
