Store clerk sale in Maryland leads to $50K lottery hit

Liquor store sale turns into $50K lottery win in Eldersburg

Eldersburg, MD — A routine lottery purchase turned into a $50,000 payday after a Bonus Match 5 ticket sold at a Carroll County liquor store matched all five numbers in the latest drawing.

The winning ticket was sold at Total Discount Liquors, located at 1438 Liberty Road in Eldersburg, for the April 1 drawing. The retailer will receive a $500 bonus for selling the top-prize ticket.

The winning numbers drawn were 2, 17, 28, 29, and 35, with a Bonus Ball of 27.

Lottery officials said this marks the 17th time the $50,000 top prize has been won this year. Bonus Match 5 drawings are held daily, with players selecting five numbers from a pool of one through 39. The Bonus Ball provides additional chances to win but is not required for the top prize.

Winners have 182 days from the drawing date to claim their prize. Prizes exceeding $25,000 must be claimed through Maryland Lottery headquarters.

Officials have not released any information about the winner.
