Risingsun woman wins $50K on Ohio Lottery scratch-off ticket

Risingsun, OH – A Wood County woman is celebrating a big win after snagging a $50,000 prize on the Ohio Lottery’s VIP Millions scratch-off ticket, making her the latest resident of the small village of Risingsun to cash in on lottery luck.

Mariann Hovis purchased the winning $50 ticket at Fuel Mart #767, located at 1004 Bowling Green Road in nearby Bradner. After mandatory federal and state tax withholdings of 26.75%, she will take home $36,625.

VIP Millions is one of the Ohio Lottery’s most lucrative instant games, offering players the best chance to win $1 million in state history. The $50 ticket also includes 19 top prizes remaining of $40,000 per year for 25 years, as of January 16.

Risingsun, a rural village of just over 500 people located in the southeastern corner of Wood County, now adds another lucky resident to Ohio’s growing list of scratch-off winners.

The Ohio Lottery continues to contribute heavily to education across the state, with more than $34 billion directed to public education programs since 1974.
