Stafford County Sheriff’s Office Apprehends Suspect After High-Speed Chase

June 18, 2024

STAFFORD, VA — In a dramatic turn of events, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office apprehended one suspect while another remains at large following a high-speed pursuit that extended into Fredericksburg.

The incident unfolded on the evening of June 16, around 8:40 PM, when deputies were dispatched to Little Falls Road to locate Tylor Asbury, 19, from Stafford, who was wanted out of King George County for felony eluding among other charges. Upon arrival, deputies spotted a truck they believed Asbury was in speeding away from a residence.

Deputy S.A. Fulford initiated a chase after the truck failed to stop and escalated its speed. The pursuit stretched along Kings Highway and onto Blue and Gray Parkway, where the truck dangerously maneuvered past other vehicles on the shoulder. It continued into Fredericksburg, culminating near Lafayette Boulevard when the driver, realizing escape was futile, pulled over.

While the driver, identified as 18-year-old Cash Phelix of Stafford, was apprehended with assistance from Fredericksburg Police, Asbury fled on foot and remains at large. Phelix was found in possession of controlled substances and an alcoholic beverage, leading to multiple charges including felony eluding and reckless driving. He is currently held at Rappahannock Regional Jail with a secured bond of $3,000.

Authorities are still searching for Asbury, now wanted by both the King George and Stafford County Sheriff’s Offices. The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact local law enforcement immediately.
