January 10, 2026

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus Division of Police announced that an arrest has been made in connection with the murders of Spencer and Monique Tepe, as investigators continue to pursue leads in the ongoing homicide investigation.

Police said an arrest warrant had been issued for Michael D. McKee on murder charges. McKee was taken into custody without incident in Rockford, Illinois. Authorities did not release additional details about the circumstances of his arrest or possible motive, citing the active nature of the investigation.

On December 30, at approximately 10:04 a.m., Columbus Police Patrol officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of N. 4th Street for a well-being check. Officers arrived at the scene and located two adult victims, Mr. Spencer Tepe and Mrs. Monique Tepe, suffering apparent gunshot wounds. Both victims were pronounced deceased at 10:11 a.m.

Detectives believe the murder of Mr. and Mrs. Tepe occurred sometime between 2:00 and 5:00 a.m. on the morning of December 30th in the upstairs of their residence. Recovered video footage shows a person of interest walking in the alley near the Tepe’s residence during that timeframe.

In a statement, police said that information would be released as appropriate to avoid compromising the case. Detectives are urging anyone with information related to the homicides to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Tip Line at 614-645-2228.
