Teen was rushed to a Baltimore trauma center after Sunday night gunfire
EDGEWOOD, MD – A 19-year-old man was shot in the lower body during a Sunday night shooting in Edgewood, sending him to a Baltimore-area trauma center while Harford County detectives searched for a suspect and worked to determine what triggered the gunfire.
The Harford County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to the 700 block of Court Square Drive at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a shooting.
Deputies found the 19-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body.
Shooting traced to Hanson Road
Deputies immediately provided medical assistance until emergency medical personnel arrived and took over his care.
The victim was then transported to a Baltimore-area trauma center.
His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Investigators subsequently determined that the shooting itself appeared to have occurred in the 1700 block of Hanson Road, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said their initial investigation indicates the shooting was an isolated incident.
Detectives search for suspect and motive
Detectives with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division took over the investigation.
Investigators canvassed the surrounding neighborhood for potential witnesses and additional information.
The Sheriff’s Office said detectives are working to identify potential suspects and determine a motive.
Forensic Services Unit personnel also processed the scene and collected physical evidence.
No suspect description was released, and no arrests were announced.
