Baltimore, MD — A routine response to an assault complaint erupted into chaos Tuesday morning when a suspect violently resisted arrest and assaulted multiple officers in Baltimore’s Southeast District, police said.

Around 10:38 a.m. on April 29, officers were flagged down by a 17-year-old male who reported that he had just been assaulted. The teen pointed out the alleged attacker, who immediately took a fighting stance and declared he wasn’t going anywhere when officers approached.

As officers attempted to detain him, the suspect fled on foot. During the pursuit, he punched an officer and continued resisting arrest despite the use of mace and a Taser. The situation escalated as the suspect assaulted additional officers before being tackled and restrained.

Multiple injuries reported during violent confrontation

The suspect, identified as Bryant Maurice Allen (DOB 7/22/95), was eventually restrained using shackles after continuing to fight during the arrest. Four officers, the teen victim, and Allen himself sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

Allen, who police say is a repeat violent offender with more than 20 prior arrests, will be formally charged following his discharge from the hospital. Charges are expected to include common assault and assault on law enforcement.

“This is just truly unacceptable,” said Police Commissioner Richard Worley. “Allen is a repeat violent offender who has been arrested more than 20 times by our members. We will not tolerate attacks on law enforcement or anyone in our community.”

The incident is now under review by the Baltimore Police Department’s Special Investigations Response Team (SIRT), which handles cases involving use of force or injury during police interactions.
