SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Mary Scott, a 61-year-old woman from Taylorville, Illinois, was sentenced to 60 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Colleen Lawless for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Following her incarceration, Scott is required to undergo four years of supervised release.

Scott’s indictment occurred in January 2020, leading to her guilty plea in August 2023.

The charges for possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of actual methamphetamine carry statutory penalties of up to 40 years in prison, a fine of up to $5,000,000, and a potential lifetime of supervised release.

Currently, Scott is serving a 15-year sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections for an unrelated case involving methamphetamine distribution. Judge Lawless decreed that the federal sentence is to run consecutively to her ongoing state-court sentence.
