A child was among three people wounded after gunfire erupted on an N Street block before police tracked down a teenage suspect weeks later

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A teenage suspect has been arrested in connection to a shooting in Northwest D.C. that left two men and a child wounded after gunfire erupted on a neighborhood block last month.

The Metropolitan Police Department announced Friday that a 15-year-old male from Northwest D.C. was arrested on May 22 and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon involving a gun.

The shooting happened April 28 at about 7:07 p.m. in the 400 block of N Street Northwest.

Officers responding to the scene found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS transported both victims to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Police said a male child who was also struck by gunfire was taken to a hospital by family members and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have not released details about what led to the shooting or whether the victims were targeted.

The case remains under investigation.
