Teen shot in Northwest DC as police search for answers

WASHINGTON, DC — A teenage boy was hospitalized Monday night after gunfire erupted in a Northwest Washington neighborhood, prompting an active police investigation.

Metropolitan Police Department officers responded around 9:15 p.m. to the 700 block of Taylor Street Northwest after reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located a teenage male suffering from a gunshot wound nearby.

The victim was conscious and breathing when he was transported to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Authorities have not released the teen’s age or details about the severity of his injuries.

Investigators also have not released any suspect information as detectives work to determine what led to the shooting.

The investigation remains ongoing.
