Three Arrested in Gang Unit Operation: Weapons and Fentanyl Pills Seized

LAUREL, MD – A recent investigation by a Gang Unit has led to the arrest of three individuals and the significant seizure of weapons and illegal drugs, including thousands of fentanyl pills. The suspects, identified as 26-year-old Dream Edwards from Columbia, Maryland, 22-year-old Romel Johnson from Laurel, and 34-year-old Michael Jordan Thompson from Washington, D.C., are now in custody.

The investigation involved a search warrant execution at a residence on Avebury Drive in Laurel. Detectives recovered four firearms, 300 fentanyl pills, and additional evidence from this location. Further searches of two vehicles associated with the suspects yielded an AK-47 rifle, three pounds of marijuana, and an additional 3,000 fentanyl pills.

This operation’s success is attributed to funding from the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN) grant, provided by the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services.

Edwards and Johnson face multiple charges, including firearms offenses and drug trafficking. Thompson is charged with multiple drug-related offenses. All suspects are currently held by the Department of Corrections.

The police department encourages anyone with further information regarding this case to contact detectives at 301-517-2900.
