Seaside Heights Hosts Polar Bear Plunge Today to Benefit Special Olympics New Jersey

Seaside Heights, NJ – Today, the Polar Bear Plunge at Seaside Heights, sponsored by New Jersey Law Enforcement, is set to draw thousands of participants ready to brave the cold Atlantic waters. This event is a key fundraiser for Special Olympics New Jersey, providing essential support for programming and events for athletes throughout the state.

Registration kicks off at 9:00 a.m. at Blaine Ave, Seaside Heights, NJ 08751, with the plunge scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at 315 Boardwalk, Seaside Heights. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early due to the large turnout expected. The plunge is an integral part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run® events, offering a unique opportunity for individuals, teams, organizations, and businesses to show their support for Special Olympics New Jersey athletes.

The fundraising efforts have already surpassed expectations, with a total of $2,318,334 raised, exceeding the goal of $2,150,000. This success is attributed to the remarkable efforts of participants like Lou Castano, who raised $24,609 towards a $25,000 goal, David Coppola with $16,190 raised against a $16,500 target, and Brian Tobin, who exceeded his $10,000 goal by raising $11,638. Team leaders include 2nd Avenue Freeze-Out, with $88,777 raised towards their $100,000 goal, Bayshore Shrinky Dinks exceeding their $75,000 target with $77,846, and NJ Polar Penguins, who have raised $61,243 towards a $70,000 goal.
