TOMS RIVER, NJ – If you attended the Harvest Arts Festival in Downtown Toms River, you might have noticed a table operated by Toms River Democrats giving out free stuff. Democrats have always been good at giving people free things, but those free things are always paid for by somebody else.

In this case, Paul Williams, a Democrat township committeeman, says those items were meant for charity, not as the Toms River version of the ‘Obama Phone’.

First published on New Jersey Corruption Watch, a photo of Toms River Council Candidate Rhetta Jackson-Fair showed the candidate with a sign for Ben Giovine for Mayor in the background, handing out free goodies to anyone who asked.

Williams, who has been critical of Jackson-Fair’s past criminal history and her alleged association with a convicted sex offender, said those items were donated to the Bayville Code Blue warming center and were not intended to be political props to gain votes.

“The people who kindly and generously donated certainly did not intend for those items to be as an enticement for political purposes,” Williams said. “As I’ve done before, I want people to know that Rhetta is there and to encourage people to go talk with her and ask her questions not to get political talk but to find out what she knows and whether she has ever cared about this community. Ask her how many council meetings she’s ever attended. Ask her to explain the inconsistencies in things she’s said.”
